The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
A group of friends on a road trip to visit an old family home pick up a hitchhiker who appears suicidal. Once they kick him out of the van they continue on their though unnerved. When they arrive at the homestead, one by one members of the group get separated and brutally attacked by a family of cannibals that live nearby. Sally, the main protagonist searches for her friends and finds the horrors done at the hands of Leatherface. She manages to escape but her rescuer turns out to be a member of the sadistic family and ties her and up and returns her to them. A captive in the house of horrors, Sally is tormented relentlessly until she manages to escape. She is chased by the group but manages to jump into the back of a pickup truck. The story was inspired by the real life crimes of Ed Gein in Wisconsin.
