The Amityville Horror (2005)
A married couple, George and Kathy Lutz, move into a new house in Amityville, New York and almost immediately begin to experience paranormal events. Kathy believes that her husband’s increasingly violent and erratic behavior is caused by spirits still present that claimed the lives of a family of six years before. She attempts to get her children out safely before the demonic presence completely takes over George.
A remake of the 1979 film of the same name which itself was based on the novel of the same name by Jay Anson. The book documented the alleged experiences of the Lutz family after they moved into a house on Long Island which had been the scene of a mass family murder committed by Ronald DeFeo, Jr. in 1974. The original film was directed by Stuart Rosenburg. The musical score for the original was nominated for an Oscar. While George Lutz served as a technical advisor on the original he was not approached regarding the remake and tried unsuccessfully to halt production.
