Prom Night (1980)
A young girl, Robin is terrorized by her classmates while playing a game of hide and seek and falls to her death. Instead of calling for help, her classmates decide to keep it a secret . Six years later, now teenagers and nearing their senior Prom Night each of the teenagers present that day begin receiving menacing phone calls. Meanwhile the suspected killer who has been institutionalized for six years escapes, killing a nurse who was transporting him in the same location where Kristy died. A police detective thinks he is on the trail on the killer, while one by one during the night, each of the teens succumb to violent deaths at the hands of Robin's little brother.
Reminiscent of Carrie and Halloween, with a disco feel, Prom Night certified Jamie Lee Curtis as a teen scream queen. The film received Genie Award nominations for editing and best performance by an actress, Jamie Lee Curtis. Prom Night spawned three sequels and was remade in 2008 by director Nelson McCormick.
