Plague of the Zombies (1966)
A village doctor calls for outside help when he realizes that something is killing the townspeople at an alarming rate. A former colleague of his arrives with his young daughter in tow. The two doctors encounter zombies walking near a mine and also that the village graves have been dug up and are now empty. The young daughter is lured away one night by the owner of the mine. The two doctors discover that the mine owner used to practice voodoo rituals in Haiti and is continuing the practice in the village, making the inhabitants slaves to run his mine. The doctors rush to save the young girl from becoming a zombie like the rest of the townspeople.
A Hammer Horror film, Plague of the Zombies has been said to have influenced George Romero's Night of the Living Dead. The film is known to have one of the best and scariest rising from the grave scenes in all of zombie cinema!
