I walked with a zombie (1943)
A young nurse is hired by a sugar plantation owner to care for his wife Jessica. Betsy travels to San Sebastian to find the woman in a state of non responsiveness. Her husband Paul is guilt-ridden about his wife's condition. Betsy begins to fall for Paul and searches desperately for a cure. She comes to the conclusion that Jessica is a zombie and attempts to visit the Voodoo high priests to help cure her of this condition. She is turned away. Betsy's investigation into the source of Jessica's sickness leads her to discover that Paul's mother unleashed the zombie curse on her when she learned that Jessica was planning on leaving her son.
