David Cronenberg (1943-)

A Canadian filmmaker, screenwriter and actor. Cronenberg's filmmaking style is defined as challenging and explores themes of bodily transformation and infection, coupled with a mix of science fiction and horror.
Cronenberg made his feature debut with Shivers (1975), in which parasites threaten to overtake the world with sexual desire/disease. Cronenberg followed that with Rabid (1977) and The Brood (1979).
Cronenberg's breakthrough film was Scanners (1981), in which people with telepathic and telekinesis powers are controlled by a Corporation to use for their own purposes. Cronenberg followed this up with Videodrome (1983) and The Dead Zone (1983), the latter adapted from a Stephan King novel.
