Blood and Black Lace (1964)
A fashion house is the setting for this early precursor to the slasher genre. The fashion house not only deals in couture and beauty but also drugs and blackmail. When a young model is killed it is learned that she's left behind a detailed diary with incriminating evidence. One by one, each of the models tries to get their hands on it and fall prey to a gory death at the hands of a masked attacker.
Also known as Sei donne per l'assassino (Six Women for the Murderer), Director Bava took the horror genre to a new level by focussing on the masked predator and associating horror and sex to a new level. The film was considered a commercial failure in Italy but has gone on to influence the later slasher films on the 1980's and also filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino.
