28 days later (2002)
When animal rights activists break into a laboratory attempting to free some chimpanzees being used for medical research, they unknowingly unleash a fast spreading virus called "rage" onto the world. 28 days later, Jim, a bicycle courier awakens from a coma. He finds the hospital deserted and seemingly empty. He ventures out to discover the city of London completely deserted with signs of catastrophe everywhere. Along with several other survivors the group struggle to stay alive from the hordes of the infected.
28 Days Later was acclaimed director Danny Boyle's first foray into the zombie genre and the film has been credited with reviving the zombie subgenre. According to an interview with Boyle, the film poses the question "What has happened to our world?" with its commentary on intolerance in today's society.
